In certain circumstances, some company will share an email account among staffs. This may result in the email getting hijacked if the resign staff is not satisfied with their company.
We are using hotmail as our sample for this topic. Here we will share some solutions to prevent email get hijack by exstaff or unwanted person. Of course the first thing to do is to change your login password immediately.

- Sign me out
First of all, you may go to request Sign me out option which is to request hotmail to sign out of browsers, apps and anywhere else your account is used to sign in, within 24 hours. Therefore unauthorized access to your account will be requested a new password login.
2. Add a new way to sign in or verification
There are 3 ways you can use for sign in verification, choose to use an app, email a code or text a code. Remove those ways that does not belong to you. Add in new ways for future verification uses.

Two-step verification is to protect you, making the login more difficult for someone else to sign in to your Microsoft account. It uses two different forms of identity: your password, and a contact method (also known as security info). Go to the Security basics page and sign in with your Microsoft account, Select More security options, Under Two-step verification, choose Set up two-step verification to turn it on, or choose Turn off two-step verification to turn it off.
4. Generate Recovery Code.
You can use this code to access your account if you lose access to your sign-in info. Print this out and keep it in a safe place or take a picture of it.
